Architectural in feeling, generous in proportion. Solid hardwood louvres hand-finished in warm whites and natural stains — built to last decades, dressed to last centuries.
Furniture for
your windows.
California shutters belong to the architecture. They sit within the frame — flush, level, immovable — and quietly do their work for the next thirty years. We build ours in solid basswood and engineered hardwoods, hand-sanded, primer-sealed, finished in warm whites or stained naturals that catch the morning light just so.
The pleasure is in the operation: the satisfying weight of a louvre tilted slowly closed, the soft click of a magnet, the absence of fuss. Built for living, not for showrooms.
A North American adaptation of plantation-style shutters — fitted within the window casing, not hung above it.
The hardwood frame and tiltable louvres act as a layer of insulation — quietly valuable through Canadian winters.
Louvres tilt almost a full half-turn — from a sealed privacy at one extreme to wide-open daylight at the other.
Cared for properly, a shutter installation routinely lasts twenty-five years or more — outliving the rooms they were dressed for.
